A fully equipped child based play centre for parents, grandparents and caregivers to bring babies, toddlers, preschoolers or kindergarten-aged children. Different learning ‘stations’ are carefully planned around themes – always with specific child-learning goals, or outcomes, in mind. The centres toys and learning stations are completely changed every month.

  • Interactive Circle Time – See a science experiment or learn the numbers on a calendar -you never know what’ll be part of the daily circle time. Ontario Early Years program staff lead a circle each morning and afternoon when the centre is open. Adults and children gather together to learn songs & fingerplays and hear stories. Sequencing, colours, math skills, early literacy and counting are all part of the learning that takes place during the fun.

  • Field trips – Parent/child excursions are organized by OEYC staff regularly. Visit the pumpkin patch, the zoo, farms, the maple syrup bush, agricultural fair, or a giant OEYC picnic in the park. Check our website or the centres to check what’s new every season.

  • Special Guests - A variety of spcial guests may visit the centre throughout the year. Come in and see what is happening.

  • Kindergarten-aged children have a unique space of their own within the Lindsay Ontario Early Years Centre. When they’re ready for more math, science and fine motor skills, 4 to 6 year olds can go into the special section just for them – no worries about the smaller sized manipulatives that are dangerous for the babies and toddlers in the centre.

  • Listening centre – put on the headsets, one for you, one for your child and enjoy stories and songs together.

  • Cooking with Kids – from time to time at the Lindsay centre we have casual workshops where children actually prepare their own food with their own hands at tables just their height. Parents are nearby but not too much helping! Examples of past culinary delights include parfaits or sandwiches.

  • Parenting workshops – Special topics might be immunization, childhood illnesses or fun things to do with young children for the season.

  • Ask the Nurse - This service is for all parents and caregivers that attend the centre. It gives an opportunity for parents to ask specific questions in a confidential room about health or developmental milestones of your children. (In partnership with the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit).

  • Developmental screenings – There are regular screenings offered to help you learn more about how your young child (1-6 year old) is doing in a variety of different skills. (In partnership with the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit).
